The Future of Enderbolt

Enderbolt Game Panel Migration

We have made an important decision regarding the software powering our Minecraft hosting platform.

Enderbolt is moving away from Pterodactyl and transitioning to Calagopus.

This decision was not made overnight. We have invested a significant amount of time and money into our current Pterodactyl setup, including more than €300 in addons, customizations, and improvements. However, after evaluating the direction of the platform and the amount of additional software required to achieve the functionality we want to provide, we decided that continuing down the same path would not make sense for Enderbolt.

Why are we moving?

One of the biggest reasons is the amount of functionality we want to provide to our customers.

Our current Pterodactyl setup relies heavily on individual addons and custom integrations. We have already spent more than €300 on addons, primarily to improve the panel's appearance and functionality.

The new Calagopus package we have selected already includes 60+ features in a single package.

Recreating the same functionality through individual Pterodactyl addons would cost approximately €600+, and that does not include the additional time required to maintain, update, and troubleshoot all of those separate components.

Instead of continuing to build a large collection of separate addons around Pterodactyl, we would rather have the majority of the functionality integrated into one system.

Why Calagopus?

Calagopus offers a different approach to the game server panel.

According to the benchmarks we have reviewed, Calagopus is currently up to 442× faster in certain operations compared to the alternatives tested. Performance benchmarks naturally depend on the specific operation, hardware, configuration, and testing methodology, so we do not consider that number representative of every possible workload. However, the performance improvements are still significant enough to be interesting for us.

Another important factor is the community behind the project.

The Calagopus developers and community are actively working on migrating functionality from the Pterodactyl ecosystem. They are also helping migrate Pterodactyl addons to the new software without additional cost in cases where this is supported.

We genuinely appreciate that approach.

It means that moving away from Pterodactyl does not necessarily mean losing everything we have built around it.

Anything that is not already included in the new package can either be addressed by the Calagopus developers or integrated directly by our own developers.

A new Enderbolt experience

We are currently working on how the new panel will look and feel.

I recently purchased a separate theme and started adapting it specifically for Enderbolt. I may still finish that work, but we recently discovered a much more complete Calagopus theme package that already provides most of the functionality and design components we need.

Because of that, it makes more sense for us to focus our development resources on making the entire system feel like Enderbolt, rather than spending months recreating functionality that is already available.

The goal is not simply to replace one panel with another.

The goal is to make the panel, billing system, subscriptions, community features, and other services feel like one platform.

Enderbolt Subscription

There is another major change we want to introduce.

Many hosting providers charge separately for additional backups, server slots, ports, databases, split servers, and other features.

We understand why this business model exists, but it can become extremely expensive for customers who need several additional features across multiple servers.

We want to approach this differently.

We are currently considering an Enderbolt subscription priced at approximately €1.99/month.

We are also considering offering a discounted yearly subscription, but the final pricing and structure will be announced later.

The subscription is currently planned to include:

• Additional server split slots

• Additional backups

• Priority support

• Special tokens

• Benefits across all of your Minecraft server packages

The idea is that the subscription belongs to your Enderbolt account, rather than being purchased separately for every individual Minecraft server.

That means that if you operate multiple servers with us, you would not need to purchase the same addon repeatedly for every server.

Community

The special tokens mentioned above will be connected to our upcoming Community platform.

We are currently working on a system where customers will be able to discover Minecraft servers, view moderated server descriptions, communicate through basic community features, and leave server ratings.

The exact functionality is still being developed, so we do not want to promise features before they are ready.

There is also currently around a 50% chance that we will eventually allow customers to create and operate a server store directly through Enderbolt.

The idea would be to provide everything in one place instead of requiring server owners to pay for several external services.

If this becomes possible, the goal would be to integrate the store directly with your Enderbolt account and Minecraft server infrastructure.

Domain Change

Another important change is our domain.

The current shieldhost.cloud domain will eventually be replaced by:

enderbolt.com

Enderbolt is the direction we are moving forward with, and the old Shieldhost domain will no longer be our primary service domain.

Once we announce that the migration is complete, please do not interact with the old domain.

If you see a login page or another page requesting your Enderbolt credentials on the old domain, do not enter your information.

Instead, report it immediately to:

support@enderbolt.com

This will allow us to investigate and take appropriate action against potential phishing attempts.

We are currently operating with a limited budget, which is also one of the reasons we cannot justify keeping the old domain active indefinitely.

We appreciate your understanding during this transition.

Child Safety and Privacy

We also want to be transparent about how some future Community features may work.

Our documentation will explain that additional server statistics and player-related information may be collected only when the user explicitly opts in.

These features will not be enabled by default.

This information will not be collected for the purpose of selling it.

The purpose is to allow us to provide additional functionality within the Enderbolt Community platform and improve the experience for server owners and players.

For example, server owners may be able to publish information about their servers, while players may be able to discover servers through the Community platform and provide ratings or other feedback.

Server descriptions and Community content will be subject to moderation.

Third-Party Minecraft Servers

When a player chooses to join a Minecraft server through the Enderbolt Community platform, the actual Minecraft server remains operated by its respective server owner.

The server operator remains responsible for their own server rules, moderation, content, and legal obligations.

The Community platform is not intended to replace or modify the applicable Minecraft EULA or Microsoft's/Mojang's terms.

Enderbolt's Community platform is a discovery and communication service. It does not mean that Enderbolt operates or controls every third-party Minecraft server listed on the platform.

More detailed information regarding privacy, data collection, Community functionality, and responsibilities will be included in our documentation before these features become available.

What happens now?

For the time being, our priority is the migration itself.

We will gradually rebuild and integrate the Enderbolt experience around Calagopus while keeping our infrastructure stable.

Our goal is not to rush the transition.

We want the new platform to be properly tested, integrated with our billing system, styled to match Enderbolt, and ready for customers before we consider the migration complete.

This is a significant change for Enderbolt, but we believe it gives us much more room to build the platform we actually want instead of continuously working around the limitations of our previous setup.

❤️ Thank you for being part of Enderbolt and for your patience while we build the next version of the platform. ⚡
